There are places where time seems to stand still, where you can find only peace and tranquility, without any noise of cars and the rhythm of the day is marked only by the movement of the birds, sunrises and sunsets. I found one of these places last weekend in Umbria, near Spoleto, with my love. A weekend of relax and a full immersion in nature, in order to regenerate the body and mind after long winter months. I really needed it!

In this particular session, I only used the Olympus Zuiko Pancake 25mm F2. 8 lens, all the way with my E-5. I did bring along the fisheye and my staple lens, 50mm F2, but surprisingly I did not switch lens even once throughout this morning. Not bad, coming from a budget standard lens, though I must admit the performance in terms of sharpness and overall image quality is no where near any of the High Grade Zuiko lenses. Therefore, I can conclude that the 25mm pancake lens is surprisingly flexible and versatile, almost usable in every shooting situations. But hey, expectations and measurebating aside, the lens delivered what it promised: a good all around performer for everyday general shooting.
Remember the couple that got married in Bali not too long ago (click here if you have not read that entry), Calvin and Mabel , my friends whom I have known from Perth, that I had the honor and privilege to be their photographer. But before the reception dinner, we went around the hotel and snapped some portrait shots of Calvin and Mabel. Initially I intended to bring the couple out to the Taman Tasik Perdana which was not too far away from their hotel for an outdoor portraiture shooting. The biggest challenge was not being fully prepared for this shooting session, because we did not anticipate the last minute change of venue, and I did not do prior research on the hotel Nonetheless, considering the tight schedule of the day, it was decided to just shoot within the hotel compound....

Need advice on two Olympus prime lens?
Trying to decide between two lens for my Olympus E-520:
the Zuiko 35mm F3.5 Macro Lens OR a Zuiko ED 25mm F2.8 lens.
I had a Canon XT and was real pleased with a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens I had with it...

What are your expectations?
My guess is you already have the 14-42 mm lens and just want a macro for copying documents and small items.
I looked on the Olympus site and the 25 mm f/2.8 lens is sort of an unusual lens.

how do i get a fingerprint smuge off of my zuiko fisheye lens?
I was taking pictures with my fisheye lens at a birthday party and the child put a cake fingerprint on me lens, when i wiped it off with a cloth, a little of the coating came off the lens.
Use a good cleaning kit.
A chamois cloth should do well alone. Add some lens cleaner fluid and it should do right.
I doubt that the Coating has flaked off. Nowadays they are rather resistant.
Charles D
Go to a camera or photo shop. They have lens cleaners and lens cleaning paper. These will
probably do the job.
M W
Use a small amount of water and a cloth. It'll help a lot if you haven't already tried. Cheapest and easiest way.
kaptainfelix
If some of the coating came off the lens then you're only options are to either get the lens recoated (I don't know how much this will cost but it won't be cheap)

Teleconverter for Olympus Evolt E-500?
I know Olympus makes the EC-14 1.4 teleconverter for the Zuiko digital lenses. Will it work with all the Zuiko digital lenses, or only select ones?
You can use it with all of them. Just try to keep the the aperture between F/2.8 and f/5.6. If you open it up more, you could experience vignetting and if you stop it down further, you could experience poor AF.
